an August 9 1998 copy of Bonnie's Guestbook

Tammy Chapek's Bonnie memorial imageAfter Bonnie Bedford's death on July 11, 1997, her guest book became an impromptu gathering place for people all over the world to leave short comments expressing their sadness, how Bonnie had touched their lives, and their good wishes for Bonnie's family, friends and work. Although almost all of Bonnie's web pages are down now, when I was looking through my files I found this copy of her guestbook, and decided to put it up so people could continue to read the memorial messages.

The comments below are as they were on August 9, 1998 when I downloaded them, but obviously I did add this introduction and also removed Bonnie's short form asking prospective guestbook signers to enter their name, where they were from, and a "brief comment."

I love you and miss you, Bonnie, and it left me feeling quite shaken to bring up a page you had made and start editing it like this. - Tané, July 5 1999

"Found out about this site from Nursing Mothers' newsletter. It's great! I feel a connection in a number of ways... I consider myself a radical mother, breastfeeding my 2.5 year old, family bed, non-vaccinators, unschooling plans. And, my mother died of breast cancer when i was 20. As the oldest child, I looked after her in her last months and dealt with many of the family affairs after her death. A favourite quote, which we put on her grave: "Life is eternal, love is immortal, death is only a horizon; and a horizon is nothing but the limit of our sight." When Mikaila was born, I really felt she had just left my mother in the spirit world to come here. It was an impassioned time, full of utter joy and some sorrow, too, when she was born. I grieve the loss of my wonderful mother again as I realise Mikaila will never know her (except as an angel in her dreams) as a grandmother. [I recommend the book "Motherless Daughters" too, especially for teens and up]. Bye. Blessed be."

"This page is lovely. It's my first night on the Net and I find freinds! I'm at the end of my nursing days. My 3rd child (oonly 29 months is not really much of a nurser-some relief- some sadness. I'm not homeschooling- my 7 year old is in a private school- something I thought I'd NEVER do. But he is thrinving- so here we are. My last two children are only 15 months apart-so it feels my mothering has been an exhausted blur for a while. 3 kids is alot of kids-so it feels like we're done. So whatt does the next arena of non-lactating radical motherinf feel like? laurieac@cntn.net"
